City Information
Greater Buffalo, which encompasses the City of Buffalo and all of Erie County, NY (population 934,000) was first selected as an All America City and Community in 1996, at the National Civil Leagues All-America City Awards competition held in Fort Worth, Texas. Buffalo is the commercial, political and entertainment hub of an eight-county region of western New York State consisting of nearly 1.6 million people. Located at the easternmost end of Lake Erie, overlooking the Niagara River, Buffalo is just across the Peace Bridge from the Canadian province of Ontario.
Buffalo is 439 miles from mid-town Manhattan. This is an eight-hour drive via the New York State Thruway, an eight-hour train ride via Amtrak or a one-hour flight from either LaGuardia or Kennedy Airports.

Shea's Performing Arts Center
Shea's Performing Arts Center is dedicated to a tradition of bringing the very best in entertainment to the Niagara Region. Shea's presentations include Broadway shows, concerts, dance programs, opera and programs for young audiences and families, as well as free classic movies.

Kleinhan's Music Hall
It was built by Eliel & Eero Saarinen from 1938 - 1940. The concert hall for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. This hall is utilized for concerts as well as local dance school recitals on the main stage and is also home to the Buffalo Chamber Music Society and the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus.

Wax Museum of History
The Wax Museum of History is one of the must see Niagara Falls attractions, located in the City of Niagara Falls, New York. Here you will be able to experience the Niagara Frontier's history first hand, you will be able to look upon daredevil's barrels, the making of electrical power, street scenes of the Niagara Falls of yesteryear, Indian villages and much more all of which is depicted in life-size wax figures.

Old Fort Niagara (on Lake Ontario)
One of the best Niagara Falls attractions for all those history buffs. All of the structures of the old fort are preserved as they were in the 1700s when Niagara was controlled by Britain and France. They are among the oldest buildings of the Great Lakes, and are the site of many historic battles, sieges, trading, and conquest. Located on the mouth of the Niagara River on Lake Ontario, this fort was very important to those that wanted to control the trade routes to the Great Lakes. There are picnic and swimming facilities nearby.

Aquarium of Niagara
Located just outside of Niagara Falls State park, there are more than 1500 aquatic animals, including penguins, California sea lions, piranha, seals, eels and sharks. While visiting make sure to take the time to watch the sea lion shows (every 90 minutes), where you will see California sea lions educate and entertain.

Niagara Reservation State Park
Niagara Reservation State Park, one of the must see attractions, surrounds the mighty Niagara Falls, and is the oldest state park in the United States. The park is composed of numerous islands, including the famous Prospect Point area. Upon arrival to the park, visitors are greeted by the magnificent Great Lakes Garden, and the visitor center offers information and exhibits about the park's history, geology and technology. There is a Niagara Scenic Trolley that provides three-mile guided tours, stopping at the park's most scenic vistas and at places such as the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, which tells the story of the creation of the falls with exhibits and a multi-screen theater presentation.

Aerospace Museum
This museum focuses on the rich aviation history of the Niagara Frontier, having many of the aviation products from over the years on display; over 40,000 aircraft have been manufactures on the Niagara Frontier, and in fact Buffalo was home to one of the largest aircraft plant, the Curtiss Consolidated.

Fireworks over the Falls every Friday night (summer only)
If you are planning to visit the falls in the summer, make sure to go on either a Friday or Saturday night. Because around 10pm between May 16th and August 31st, there is a free fireworks display over the falls. There are also firework displays on the major Candian and American holidays. Some of the best place to watch the fireworks from are Sir Harry Oakes Gardens in Ontario, Prospect Point in New York, or try watching from the Rainbow Bridge!

Albright-Knox Art Gallery
The Gallery's features exhibits rich in post-war American and European art, abstract expressionism, pop art, and art of the 1970s through the end of the century. The gallery also has a worldwide reputation as a center for modern art. The gallery's holdings also include artifacts of the Mesopotamian and Renaissance periods, as well as American and European art of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Maid of the Mist Boat Tours
While you are at the falls, a must do is to take a ride on the Maid of the Mist Tour of the falls. This 30 minute ride will take you around the American and Horseshoe falls, and is acclaimed at being one of Niagara's most popular attractions. You are provided with a hooded raincoat as you get up close and personal with the falls, and hear the thunder of the water hitting the rocks.
