A little about Richmond :
The population of Richmond is approximately 203,056 (1990). Richmond is located in eastern Virginia. Richmond, the Capital city, is an independent city, not associated with any county.
Richmond has been an official city since 1737. Much history has gone by here. Patrick Henry's famous speech was given in Richmond at St. John's Church. The "Southern White House" of Jefferson Davis was here in Richmond also. Richmond was made the state's third capital in 1779. The Thomas Jefferson inspired capitol building was moved into later in 1788. The life-size statue of George Washington, by Houdon, stands in the Capital Rotunda. It is considered one of the most valuable statues in the country. Richmond became the confederate capital in 1861. At this time the capital building housed both the state legislature and Confederate.

It is a good general interest art museum with diverse collections from all over the world, including a collection of Faberge eggs.
